The positive image of BiH was sent on that 6th of June 2015, when the Holy Father Pope Francis visited BiH, as stated last night at the academy that was organized in Sarajevo on the occasion of marking the anniversary of the visit of Pope Francis to BiH.
With memories on the basic message “Peace be with you” and everything else the Pope said to the multiethnic state and its citizens back then, it was emphasized that everyone today should not only remember his words but to live them and incorporate them into their everyday private and public life.
Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljic, told the attendees at the Priests Home that with his arrival, Pope Francis returned BiH in the spotlight of world publicity for a moment, about which was talked in a positive context.
He recalled that at the beginning of Mass at the Kosevo Stadium, which was attended by thousands of pilgrims, the Pope said that the peace is God’s plan for humanity. Puljic added that today’s striving for peace conflicts with the fact that there are numerous armed conflicts in the world, which are one kind of World War III.
He stated that Pope Francis talked about them and that these kind of conflicts are intentionally caused for the sale of weapons and the creation of profit and reminded on the Pope John Paul II who said “Never again war.”
“Let’s join this adventure of uncompromising living of God’s love and reflect it as builders of peace with all the courage and patience, as well as persistence,” said Cardinal Puljic.
Member of BiH Presidency Dragan Covic said that all of us can be proud of the image that went from BiH in the world back then and send something that is probably the event itself.
“It is unlikely that we will be able to send such a picture on behalf of BiH, our homeland, in a reasonable amount of time again,” said Covic, emphasizing that the Pope sent a lot of messages in which he emphasized the need to build the common BiH.
On the occasion of marking the anniversary of the Pope’s visit, Archbishop of Vrhbosna Cardinal Vinko Puljic presided over the solemn Holy Mass in Sarajevo Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
