Heinrich Maurer, and the Ambassador of Japan to BiH, Kazuya Ogawa, visited the farm “Zlatni Bor” in the village on the plateau of the Tara Canyon in Foca, the local community Zavait, which produces the so-called golden cheese according to traditional Swiss recipe.

One of the two owners of the farm, Predrag Dzokic from Belgrade, said that the ambassadors promised to help in the further development of production, and that they expect arrival of the Swiss delegation already in July, which should examine the possibilities of connecting the local cheese production and tourism activities.

“Embassy of Switzerland will support the project of integral agro-tourism on the plateau of the Tara Canyon, which opens the opportunities for easier access to European funds, which should result in the launch of breeding center and the inclusion of a bigger number of subcontractors in the production” said Dzokic.

He cooperated with the Embassy of Switzerland before, and recently he participated in the celebration of 20 years of its work in BiH with the presentation of golden cheese.

On the farm “Zlatni Bor” rely on the quality of pastures, which are covered with medicinal herbs, but also the great tourist potential, primarily because of the attractiveness of the largest canyon in Europe and the second largest canyon in the world, on top of which are placed several bungalows for accommodation of tourists.

Except the golden cheese, recently started the production of soft French cheese, and they are also planning to set up the cable car from the top of the canyon to the river.

“We have big plans, and we are waiting for road for rafting to be built along the right bank of Tara so we can see where to put the cable car for tourists. Soon, we will get another 10 Alpine cattle and build bigger stable, so we are expecting a lot of work,” added Dzokic.

In cooperation with business partners from Serbia, the farm “Zlatni Bor” will soon start with the production of cheese according to Swiss recipe on Zlatibor, only for market of Serbia.
