Annual National Program for NATO Membership will not be discussed by BiH’s Council of Ministers again?

Session of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH’s) Council of Ministers is scheduled for November 12th, and ministers are expected to consider the draft of Annual National Program for NATO Membership, but there is every chance that, although this item is on the agenda, it will not ultimately be before the ministers.

The proponent of the draft ANP is the BiH Integration Process Commission of BiH. BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektic on Twitter shared the news of the upcoming session and confirmed that the SDS would demand that this draft ANP be withdrawn from the agenda.

“The SNSD has drawn us into the NATO story by signing Nebojsa Radmanović’s decision to activate the MAP and applying for NATO membership,” Mektic wrote.

And Mirko Sarovic (SDS party), Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, rejected this possibility.

“Our position is unchanged and we will act on this as we have done so far,” Sarovic told Patria News Agency.

This is the ninth attempt to put the ANP on the agenda of the BiH Council of Ministers, and for the past eight times this material has been removed from the agenda precisely at the request of Mirko Sarovic, Deputy Chairman and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, News Agency Patria reports.
