The increase in pensions in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 11.2 percent to 17 percent is set to take effect on July 1, announced by Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić during the “Words, Not Deeds” gathering held in Srebrenik.

Pensions in the Federation have increased by 11.2 percent since January 1, and as of July 1, they will rise by an additional five percent, fulfilling the announcement of a total increase of 17 percent this year.

Speaking about the actions the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has implemented over the past and current term, Nikšić said the focus was on concrete measures that affect people’s everyday lives.

Among these measures, he highlighted investments in road infrastructure, the introduction of a ban on working Sundays, and the increase in the minimum wage.

Rising Cost of Living

The announcement that pensions will increase by 17 percent as of July 1 was one of the messages that attracted significant attention, especially given the rising cost of living and long-standing demands from pensioners for higher pensions.

Adnan Bijelić also spoke at the gathering, emphasizing that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its political partners, gathered in the Troika coalition, have provided significant support for Srebrenik through joint action. According to him, this support is evident in the funds channeledthrough the city budget, which have contributed to the implementation of important projects, RTV Slon reported.

The announced pension increase, including plans for infrastructure investments, budget support, and solving of utility issues, was the main focus of the gathering in Srebrenik. These and similar events are also being held ahead of the elections scheduled for later this year in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
