One person was arrested in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica on suspicion of participating in the attack on Kosovo Force (KFOR) members during the protest on May 29th, 2023, in Zvecan.

Deputy police commander for the North Region Veton Eljsani said that a search had previously been carried out at the suspect’s house in the village of Zitkovac in the municipality of Zvecan.

Minister of Internal Affairs of the provisional institutions Xhelal Svecla announced that one suspect had been arrested, stating that “no criminal or terrorist will feel freedom” but that action will be taken against them without any compromise.

During the protest in Zvecan, there were clashes between gathered Serbs and KFOR after tensions had risen three days earlier when the Kosovo police assisted in taking over municipal buildings in northern Kosovo in order to provide space for the new Albanian mayors to work.
