Additional forces of trained and qualified members of the Urban Search and Rescue Unit – USAR team of the Federal Specialized Unit for Rescue from Ruins arrived this morning in Hatay, in the southeast of Turkey, which is one of the areas most affected by the earthquake.
The reinforcement of 10 members of the USAR team of the Federal Administration of Civil Protection with additional equipment necessary to continue working in the field was sent the night before yesterday from Sarajevo, with the aim of increasing the capacity of the rescue teams engaged in searching the ruins and searching for victims in the areas that were affected on the February 6 catastrophic earthquake in the Republic of Turkey and Syria.
They joined the rescuers of the Federal Unit, who, with four search dogs, necessary machinery, specialized tools and modern electronic and personal equipment, according to the instructions of the FBiH Government, were sent to Turkey on February 7.
According to this morning’s FUCZ report, members of the USAR team of the Federation of BiH in the Hatay area continue to clear and search the ruins in the settlements of Sumerler and Defne, working 24 hours a day in shifts.
According to the FUCZ, the USAR team is working on very demanding tasks of cutting and removing large concrete pieces, and considering that a certain period has passed since the earthquake, the work on the ground is being taken over by heavy machines, so the rescue teams are following their work on removing the ruins.
At yesterday’s emergency session, the Federal Government tasked the Federal Administration of Civil Protection and the Federal Headquarters of Civil Protection to, in accordance with the Government’s conclusion of February 6, 2023. in 2018, activities to provide aid in the areas affected by earthquakes in the Republic of Turkey and Syria will continue, announced the FBiH Government Office for Public Relations.
