The delegation of Canton Sarajevo, municipalities, associations and citizens paid tribute to the victims that were killed at the site of the massacre in Mula-Mustafe Baseskije Street (the northern entrance to the City Market) by reciting surah Fatiha, a minute of silence and laying flower on the occasion of marking the 22nd anniversary of the suffering of the citizens of Sarajevo.

The Chairman of the Assembly of Canton Sarajevo, Ana Babic, recalled that 43 people were killed from the grenade that was fired from the aggressor positions at that location, and 84 persons were wounded, as well as that this place meant survival for that people back then because they came there for food.

“Every year like this is sad and every one of them has their own story, it carries its own secret, but we will always remember them. They remind us that we cannot leave such a time in our lives ever again because another event like this would make us lose sense in everything,” said Babic.

President of the Association – Union of Civil War Victims of CS, Senida Karovic, emphasized the importance of remembering those who gave their life for the defense of Sarajevo and BiH, and that this and all other places of suffering should be marked and that the culture of remembrance should be developed.

Victims that were killed on that day were: Omer Ajanović, Hidajet Alić, Salko Alić, Zeno Bašević, Husein Baktašević, Sevda Brkan-Kruščica, Vera Brutus-Đukić, Halida Cepić, Paša Crnčalo, Mejra Cocalić, Razija Čolić, Esad Čoranbegić, Dario Dlouhi, Salko Duraković, Alija Dževlan, Najla Fazlić, Rijad Garbo, Ibrahim Hajvaz, Meho Herceglija, Jasmina Hodžić, Hajrudin Hozo, Jusuf Hašimbegović, Adnan Ibrahimagić, Ilija Karanović, Mesudija Kerović, Vehid Komar, Muhamed Kukić, Mirsad Kovačević, Hašim Kurtović, Ismet Klarić, Masija Lončar, Osman Mahmutović, Senad Muratović, Goran Poturković, Blaženka Smoljan, Hamid Smajlhodžić, Hajro Šatrović, Samir Topuzović, Hamza Tunović, Ajdin Vukotić, Sabaheta Vukotić, Meho Zećo and Narima Žiga.
