On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, is visiting Sarajevo.

Antonio Costa was welcomed in front of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he will hold a meeting with members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He will devote his visit to the countries of the Western Balkans from May 12 to 16 with the aim of meeting with political leaders of the region and jointly organizing the sixth summit of the European Political Community (EPC) in Tirana, which will be held on May 16.

Earlier, he met with the commander of EUFOR, Major General Florin Barbu, and with members of EUFOR deployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Your work as part of the ALTEA mission is important, not only in ensuring the stability of BiH but also of the region. EUFOR is an essential part of the EU security system. Peace is not something we should take for granted, peace is something we work on every day and that is exactly what you are doing. The path to the EU is not easy, it requires responsibility, leadership and unity,” Costa said.
