nuncio“Sarajevo is not a city which John Paul II visited in 1997 anymore. As a ‘European Jerusalem’, today’s Sarajevo is a city of symbol for the whole world, a city that despite the post-war wounds did not lose the hope”, said yesterday, among other things, the Apostolic Nuncio Luigi Pezzuto speaking at the conference Circle 99 on “The significance of the third papal visit to BiH and Sarajevo “.

The arrival of pope Francis is scheduled for 6th June. Speaking on this visit, Pezzuto pointed out that this is the third apostolic visit of Pope in the history of BiH.

“He wants, not only to confirm the faith of Catholics, but also to encourage all layers of the intense commitment to the promotion of good that would contribute to the growth and strengthening of brotherhood and peace,” said Archbishop Pezzuto.

Sarajevo, according to him, is the center of multiple religions in Southeast Europe, not only because of its geographical position, but because of the people who live on this soil.

When it comes to organizing a visit, Pezzuto stressed that they are already intensively working on the program of the Pope’s visit. Among other things, it is planned that Pope Francis will celebrate a mass in Sarajevo.
