herbicidi_230611Within the project ‘’Activities to Enable Timely Action in the Implementation of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Polluters (POPs) in B&H’’, the first meeting of the working group for the inventory was held in Vlašić on 11 September.

The first results of the preliminary inventory were presented at the meeting. The purpose of the project is to strengthen the capacity and capability for creating a national implementation plan of the Stockholm Convention. The project is financed from funds of the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and will last 14 months. The Implementation Unit Project and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has selected a consultant for the project through an international competition-a consortium composed of ‘Enova’ from Sarajevo and the Banja Luka Institute for Protection, Ecology and Computer Science.

The meeting gathered representatives from institutions at all levels of government, the industrial and private sector, research institutions and nongovernmental organizations. During the meeting, participants had the chance to become familiar with the current activities related to inventory.

Representatives of the Institute for Protection, Ecology and Information in Banja Luka attended the meeting.

At a workshop that will be held in Banja Luka, detailed results of the long-term inventory of pollutants and assessments of infrastructure and the capacity for managing chemicals will be presented.
