The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina continue today, during the weekend, to participate with increased resources in extinguishing fires in the area of the municipalities of Konjic, Bosansko Grahovo and Nevesinje, announced the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Military helicopter crews provide selfless support in the area of Konjic and Bosanski Grahovo, and in the area of Nevesinje, the army actively helps on the ground.

Colonel Mevludin Agić, commander of the 2nd helicopter squadron of the Air Force and Air Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Captain Armin Adžem, coordinator of flight activities, talk about the engagement of military helicopters in the area of Konjic and Bosanski Grahovo.

It is one of the most complex and demanding types of operations carried out by members of the Air Force and Air Defense Brigade, operations that require the highest level of training, experience, precision and flawless coordination of the crews.

In extremely difficult conditions, helicopter crews operate over inaccessible and demanding terrain, with high temperatures, strong updrafts and thick smoke that often reduces visibility and further complicates operations from the air. Each approach to the fire, each surge and each ejection of water requires maximum concentration and coordination of all crew members.

Colonel Agić and Captain Adžem talk about the multi-day deployment, the crews’ experiences at the firegrounds, the way flight operations are carried out, as well as the constant coordination with civilian structures and teams on the ground.

The engagement of the helicopter of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina once again confirms the readiness of the army, when help is most needed, to be there where the conditions are the most difficult, in protecting the lives and property of citizens, natural resources and the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was stated in the statement.
