Asim Mujkić: Sloppy, Disorganized and Contradictory Census

asim mujkicHow it has begun, the process of the B&H population census is being conducted in the same spirit of Dayton Bosnia-sloppy, disorganized and contradictory, said Professor at the Faculty of Political Science in Sarajevo Asim Mujkić to Fena.

He points out that there are several complaints about the census, especially when it comes to technical details, highlighting the fact that the census enumerators are taking the census materials home with them.

‘’That enumerators are taking personal information of citizens home with them testifies not only to the fact that in our political culture whatever belongs to the individual sphere is not recognized as something significant, but it does tell us generally how Dayton Bosnia that is burdened with ethnic identity looks at its citizens as individuals—as completely irrelevant’’, said Mujkić.

He said that his earlier fears are already being confirmed that the only significant thing in the census is ethnic counting.

Mujkić is not sure what the census will reveal about the citizens of B&H and their state, stressing that there are no elementary indicators that would determine the social strucutre of B&H.
