The Association of Business Women “One” presented its strategy for women’s entrepreneurship development and launched an initiative entitled “Uniqueness in Creating Better Economic Conditions”.
With this initiative, members of the Association wish to start processes that would enable the creation of conditions for a better economic environment and organized activities of women in business.
The network of women entrepreneurs “One” was established by a grant from the Department of Public Affairs of the US Embassy, and the US Ambassador to BiH Patrick S. Moon said that the US affords high priority to the empowerment of women in all sectors of society.
“You hear BiH citizens concerned about the lack of economic perspectives and slow pace of the development of the economy. The development of women’s entrepreneurship would contribute to the development of economy, and this would mean more jobs and prosperity for all BiH citizens. Women entrepreneurs bring new ideas and innovative approaches, and that is exactly what the BiH economy needs’’, said Moon.
He recalled that the idea to launch the Association began last year at a conference in Zagreb, which gathered entrepreneurs from 12 countries in the region, and whose conclusion was that in BiH issues should be solved using better strategies, such as the better organization of women in business.
The founder of the Association Vesna Beganović said that in the last 12 months an analysis was done on women entrepreneurs in BiH.
Given that BiH has 1.995 million Internet users, out of which 1.389 million are facebook users, they confirmed that informational literacy in BiH lags in comparison to other countries.
“Association ‘One’ does not want to hear promises. We urge the authorities to begin to fulfill the requirements as soon as possible for the process of EU integration’’, said Beganović, and added that this Association has brought together entrepreneurs from the FBiH, RS and Brčko District.
President of the Association Aida Zubčević pointed out that in the last few months’ problems were detected on the basis of which strategic guidance is defined. There will be intensive work on this, such as creating better conditions and benefits for female entrepreneurship, promoting positive attitudes of entrepreneurs in society and the like.
They said that women in BiH have excellent business ideas and require the support of the Association.
