At least 95 People died in Floods in Spain

At least 95 people have died in flooding in Spain, the worst natural disaster to hit the country in recent memory.

Emergency services in the eastern region of Valencia confirmed 92 deaths. Two more deaths were reported in the neighboring region of Castilla-La Mancha, while another death was reported in Andalusia.

The death toll is likely to rise dramatically as other regions have yet to report victims and continue searching in hard-to-reach areas.

The rainstorm that began yesterday continued today, causing flooding across southern and eastern Spain, from Malaga to Valencia. Police and rescue services used helicopters to rescue people from their homes and rubber boats to reach drivers trapped in their cars.

Rescue workers and more than 1,100 soldiers from Spain’s emergency services have been deployed to the affected areas.

The Spanish government has set up a crisis headquarters to coordinate rescue efforts.

The Spanish government has declared three days of mourning starting tomorrow.
