The death toll in the fire that engulfed the floor of the building housing the Tuzla Retirement Home tonight has risen to ten, and unfortunately, this will certainly not be the final toll, it was unofficially confirmed to Klix.ba.

A somewhat larger-scale fire engulfed part of the Tuzla Retirement Home building tonight, and according to the latest preliminary information that was unofficially confirmed to Klix.ba, ten people died.

On the other hand, at least 20 people were injured, several of whom are in serious condition.

“Members of the Tuzla Health Center’s SHMP provided medical assistance to the users on the endangered floors, after which they were taken to lower floors. The injured patients were taken to the Tuzla University Clinical Center, and among them, in addition to the users of the institution, there are also police officers, firefighters, medical workers, and employees of the Tuzla Retirement Home,” the Tuzla home said.

As unofficially confirmed to Klix.ba, a number of those injured are in very serious health conditions.
The fire was reported to the firefighters at around 8:45 p.m., and in addition to their members, colleagues from other cities in the Tuzla Canton, as well as members of the emergency medical services and the police, were at the scene.

The cause of the fire will be known after the investigation, and the cantonal police previously said that the fire was localized at 10 p.m.

As we previously reported, the fire broke out on the seventh floor of the building, in the apartments where disabled people were staying.
