These days, Slovenia already paid the first obligations towards the old foreign currency depositors of Ljubljana Bank Zagreb, as confirmed on Saturday by the Succession Fund of the Republic of Slovenia.
This is the first package of payments by which will be paid 685,000 EUR from 3rd to 14th of this month, thus 39 depositors will be paid out, according to Slovenian news agency STA.
They submitted their requests among the first ones and did not complain about the informative calculation of savings that the bank sent to them late last year and early this year, and thus their solutions on payment became legally valid.
All of those who will be paid in the first package are the old foreign currency depositors of former Ljubljana Bank Zagreb or their legal heirs, and it is expected for the payment to depositors in BiH to take place more slowly because of unregulated documents.
Slovenia estimates that for the implementation of decision of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg from 2014, according to which it is obliged to pay refund to the old foreign currency depositors of Ljubljana Bank in Croatia and BiH – it will need around 385 million EUR. It is believed that there is around 230,000 depositors or their legal heirs that will request the refund.
Requests for refund can be submitted by the end of 2017, to the Succession Fund of the Republic of Slovenia.
