Franz Hofer, the head of Kirchberg ob der Donau in Upper Austria was killed this morning, and the suspect is on the run.
The suspect is a hunter and is considered very dangerous.
The murder took place in the middle of a field about 500 meters from the main road, and the motive is unknown.
The gunman is believed to have shot at least two other people as he fled.
The newspaper “Krone” states that a major operation by the security forces is underway after the murder in the Rorbach district.
