The national public service of Austria “ORF” dedicated the whole day’s Saturday cover, among other things, to the political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in which it was stated that the leader of the SNSD, Milorad Dodik, was playing with fire.
The text of the Austrian public service explained that nationalist tones are usual in BiH, but that Milorad Dodik’s latest activities are much more dangerous than before.
Blockade as the normal activity
Analyst of the Austrian Institute for International Politics, Vedran Dzihic pointed out for “ORF” that the citizens feel unsafe because of the current situation.
”Dodik is going much further now than before. Ethnopolitical leaders manage to provoke each other. Dodik has been masteringit for more than ten years. Dodik is an arsonist, ” Dzihic explained.
A favorable constellation of forces for limit research
”If he feels even the smallest fire, he uses the opportunity and lights an even bigger fire, ” told Dzihic and added that Dodik sees a favorable constellation of forces at this moment.
”10 to 15 years ago, it was clear that the West, ie the United States (U.S.) and the European Union (EU), were involved both politically and security-wise in this area. There has also been an active enlargement process in the EU. The EU accession process is no longer as efficient for Bosnia and has been severely disrupted by former U.S. President Donald Trump, ” an analyst of the Austrian Institute stated.
Support from Moscow and Belgrade
It was stressed that Dodik has the support of Moscow in his activities and that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is returning Great Serbia politics and the map to the “game”.
A toothless tiger
”The Office of the High Representative (OHR) was a weak institution even in the period of Valentin Inzko because there is no essential consensus in the international community. The OHR is a toothless tiger, ” Dzihic pointed out.
