The members of the new Austrian government, which will be led by Chancellor Christian Stocker, were sworn in before Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, the APA news agency reported.
“In accordance with the Austrian Constitution, I appoint Christian Stocker as Federal Chancellor. I congratulate you on your appointment,” Van der Bellen said at the swearing-in ceremony at the Hofburg Palace.
The new government was formed by the Austrian People’s Party (OVP), the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPO) and the New Austria and Liberal Forum (NEOS), TASS recalls.
Stocker was appointed acting president of the OVP on January 5, following the resignation of Karl Nehammer.
