Authorities and Businesses should work Together to improve Investment Environment

High Representative Christian Schmidt visited the “Diaspora Days 2023” event in Travnik today where he used the opportunity to address the Diaspora Business Forum. Together with Mayor Kenan Dautović, the High Representative also visited successful local businesses and talked to entrepreneurs from diaspora as well as from Travnik about investment potentials in BiH. He underscored that maintaining ties between BiH and diaspora is beneficial for expanding business opportunities and promoting investment both in Travnik and throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“BiH and its authorities at all levels need to work harder on creating a better environment for investments, in cooperation with the business community and BiH diaspora. BiH has a large and successful diaspora, and this creates space for numerous cross-border business opportunities and investments. Nevertheless, it is equally important to work harder on creating better opportunities at home so that young people are motivated to stay and live here,” added the High Representative.

High Representative Schmidt paid a visit to the “Petar Barbarić” Catholic School Center in Travnik and met with the Principal Željko Marić to hear about the Center’s plans and the overall opportunities and challenges in the education sector in Travnik and the Central Bosnia Canton.

While in Travnik, the High Representative also visited the Sulejmanija Mosque and the museum and birth house of the Nobel Prize laureate Ivo Andrić, together with Mayor Dautović and entrepreneurs Snježana Köpruner and Sanjin Kotlica. At the end of the visit, the High Representative paid a visit to the St. John Paul II Chapel in Margetići.
