konvertibilne markeAccording to the official data of the Agency for Statistics of B&H, the average salary in B&H during the last 15 years increased by 530 BAM. However, analysts warn that this figure does not reflect the real situation in which many citizens of B&H find themselves.

Specifically, according to the latest data, the average monthly net salary per person employed in the public sector in B&H was 828 BAM in November 2013, while after the war, in 1998, the average salary in the country was 296 BAM, which is 532 BAM less than in comparison to the salary nowadays. According to the data, the average salary in B&H every year marks an increase of 40.9 BAM.

Economic analyst at the Foreign Trade Chamber of B&H and Professor of Economy Duljo Hasić said that the increase of the average salary in the country is not followed by other indicators that would improve the life standards of the citizens of B&H.

“Nothing has changed for the last 15 years in B&H in regard to improving the life standards of citizens. Although the average salary has increased, the other indicators have not significantly changed. This is the reason that the increase of the monthly salary in B&H did not influence life standards of most of citizens of this country”, said Hasić.
