OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMembers of the Alliance of Innovators of BiH, Sanel Alagic from Bugojno and Mevlin Hadziosmanovic from Visoko, after last year’s devastating floods, came up with the idea of patenting cubes for protection in such situations.

Cubes could be stacked along the coast and gradually automatically be filled with the upcoming water, and if coast are sandy, sand could be pumped in them, and thus would prevent possible damages of floods.

“We came up with the idea to make artificial that are effective, easy to assemble and are not expensive. Cubes against floods would work at the principle of connected vessels, which would, where necessarily, connect tin the infinite series, both vertical, horizontal and lengthwise. This would form the defensive wall“, said Hadziosmanovic.

He added that cubes would be made of plastic, with holes in three levels from all sides.

“Openings have a role of establishing communication between cubes. The goal is that, at the moment of placing, cubes are light, and become heavy when they are filled with water. Through openings“, emphasized one of innovators.

Huge flood damages, that are being increased in the world, require as soon as possible, making trials of this innovation and conducting investigations on the ground in real conditions. Although their patent would hel in reducing floods damage, and in some areas in their complete elimination, unfortunately, for now, there is no interested ones in country to invest and realize this project.
