The 68th Ballon d’Or award ceremony for the best soccer player in 2024 will be held in Paris on Monday evening, France Inter radio reported today.

The trophy, won last year by Lionel Messi and Aitana Bonmati, is awarded based on three criteria – individual performance, collective performance and player record. The character of the player in the decisive moments of the matches is also observed, as well as his sense of fair play.

This year, 30 players have been nominated for the Ballon d’Or, and Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid), Lamin Jamal (Barcelona), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) and Rodri (Manchester City) are mentioned among the favorites in the media.

Among others, Harry Kane, Toni Kroos, Emiliano Rodriguez, Kylian Mbappe, Dani Olmo, Antonio Rudiger, William Saliba and Federico Valverde are on the list of nominees.

The ceremony, which will be hosted by Didier Drogba, starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the Shatel theater in Paris.

In addition to the Golden Ball, awards will also be given for the best goalkeeper, top scorer and best young footballer. Prizes are awarded in male and female categories.

The Golden Ball has been awarded since 1956. Messi won the award eight times and Cristiano Ronaldo five times.
