Azerbaijan to invest 1 billion EUR in Road Infrastructure in BiH?

azerbaijanThe Republic of Azerbaijan is ready to be an investor and participate in tenders for the construction of large infrastructure projects in BiH.

The construction of the motorway, such as the share known as Mostar detour, fast road Sarajevo – Tuzla and tunnel Prenj were the main topic of conversation of the President of SBB Fahrudin Radoncic, Ambassador Hasanov and the representative of large national company AzVirt, Murat Turkoglu.

Radoncic emphasized the great interest of the local authorities for urgent beginning on these several hundred million BAM worth projects and intention for BiH to become the largest construction site in the region in the next 2 years.

Also, Radoncic and the ambassador had additional talk about energy projects for which investors from Azerbaijan are interested. That is, the heating system of Kakanj – Sarajevo, Termoblock VIII in Kakanj and the term valuator Sarajevo (plant for waste incineration and sewage sludge and the simultaneous production of heat and electricity).

In the presence of Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Dzindic, who was also present during the conversation, Radoncic introduced the ambassador that the three leaders of the ruling coalition in the FBiH got personally engaged in the acceleration of these processes.

Therefore, the competent institutions and domestic public companies will prepare all the necessary documents for the tender as soon as possible. On them, besides other interested bidders, Azerbaijani investors would have the opportunity to compete for getting the job under the same conditions.

As the ambassador informed Radoncic and Dzindic, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, is a big fan of BiH and therefore the government of his country and AzVirt, are ready to invest one billion EUR in BiH through several models of funding, and with 90 % participation of local labor force in the construction of infrastructure facilities.

Moreover, the Azerbaijani state company AzVirt signed the Memorandum of understanding on future business cooperation in energy sector with Elektroprivreda BiH, with mediation and presence of Ambassador Hasanov, as announced from SBB.
