B. Izetbegović Held Meetings At OIC Summit in Cairo

Member of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović, who led a delegation of our country at the 12th consecutive summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Cairo, met with President of Egypt Mohamed Morsi, the President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas and the General Secretary of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.

During the meeting Izetbegović and the Egyptian President Morsi assessed that BiH and Egypt have close friendly relations, and they expressed their commitment to further development, improvement and expansion in all areas, especially in the field of economic cooperation, trade, tourism, education and scientific and cultural cooperation.

To this end, they discussed the possibility of holding more meetings at the top level, as well as meetings between businesspeople from both countries. Izetbegović invited Morsi to visit BiH.

In a friendly conversation with the President of the Palestinian Authority, they assessed that relations between the two countries is friendly, and they expressed a firm commitment for the friendly relations to continue to evolve.

Izetbegović told Abbas that the BiH Presidency recently adopted a decision to name the non-residential Ambassador of BiH to Palestine with a seat in Amman.

President Abbas expressed his great satisfaction with this decision, saying that the newly appointed Ambassador of BiH is welcome to his country.

In a meeting with the President of Iran, they exchanged their views on the current situation in the Middle East, with a particular emphasis on the situation in Syria.

Stressing that Iran is committed to continue to cultivate friendly relations with BiH, and that there is no limit to the development of all forms of interstate cooperation, the Iranian President told Izetbegović that he intends to visit the country soon.

During the meeting with the General Secretary of the Organizaiton of Islamic Cooperation, Izetbegović thanked the organization and Professor Ihsanoglu for the support and help provided to BiH. He expressed the firm commitment of Bih to strengthen cooperation with the organization on all levels. He called for a more intensive cooperation with the organization and its members with BiH, especially in the investment sector.
