fizikaNews about Bahrudin Trbalić, from Kladanj,  a student of the International High School in Tuzla, has spread throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bahrudin Trbalić,  a student of Bosna Sema Educational Institutions received a scholarship from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Television Station N1, among others, published the story about our student.

We are publishing the entire text:

Bahrudin Trbalić from Kladanj, former student of the International School of Tuzla, has become the only Bosnian who has managed to enroll at a prestigious university – Massachusetts Institute of Technology – popularly known as MIT.

Enrollment of this extremely talented student at the best faculty in the field of physics and science is not by chance. He talked about his success in “New Day.”

He said that, nowadays, physics is more popular among young people and that he enjoys the experimental part of it, actually the part where he can see all the experimental processes.

“People who have the potential and affinity for physics have to cope by themselves, but they also need to leave our country, to seek further knowledge.”

During his education he won number of medals – a silver medal at the International Physics Olympiad held in the distant city of Mumbai, in India. The best result for the Balkans was registered at this Olympiad, and it was also the best result, in the sciences, since Bosnia and Herzegovina has participated in International competitions. He also brought home the silver from Romania, where he was competing with the world’s best physicists.

When we asked what this scholarship means to him, he said: “It means a lot, because it allows me to study what I love, in the best of circumstances. This is the best university, especially in the field of science and physics. This was the best news I’ve received in the last four years. They accepted me to the University of Princeton, but I’ve chosen MIT. Among the 4,000 applicants, only 150 students out of America have been accepted. In addition to all, a bit of luck is necessary!”

He talked about the lack of financial assistance while traveling to International competitions. He also said that he received a letter from Tuzla Canton in which they wished him a good luck.

He explained why he loves physics:

“It is all around us and it is enough to be just a little more curious to achieve a desired goal. When you see miracles, then you can’t stop exploring. Lately, I began to study the Theory of Relativity and what fascinated me is that time passes slower somewhere else.”
