The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, Robert Bosch Stiftung Foundation and ERSTE Foundation have announced the seventh competition ‘’Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence’’, which is open to experienced journalists from Albania, BiH, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia.
Ten selected journalists will receive funding and professional support to research news stories on the topic of ‘’integrity’’. It is expected that the best proposals of this broad topic would identify specific stories on relevant and current phenomena and to place them in a regional and European context.
Selected journalists will receive a fellowship of 2,000 euros, as well as an additional 2,000 euros for travel costs, research, work with an experienced editor and opportunity to attend international seminars.
An independent committee will select the three best articles, and there will be prizes of four, three, and one thousand euros. The articles will be published in English and local languages in prominent regional and international media.
The deadline for applications is 5 March 2013.
