airport-banja-lukaBy the end of the month, management of the Airports of RS should sign a contract with the representatives of Turkish Airlines and finally enable the planes loaded with cooled meat to take off from Banja Luka.

The business plan of the Airports of RS for the period 2017-2019 states that after the construction of a cargo warehouse and procurement of necessary equipment the Banja Luka Airport will take over the entire cargo traffic in the region in 2017.

“We intend to sign the contract with Turkish Airlines regarding the servicing of their cargo planes in January this year,” it is stated in the document.

Director of the Airports of RS Miroslav Janjić hopes that the contract might be signed by the end of the month, emphasizing that the negotiations with Turkish Airlines have been intensified since the middle of last year.

“Turkish Airlines actively participated in negotiations and we were one of the pioneers in this business. When the transport of meat from the Banja Luka Airport will begin does not depend solely on us and the airline, but also on the willingness of clients on both sides, of meat producers in BiH and consumers in Turkey, and on the entire economy arrangement that accompanies this business,” said Janjić.

The signing of the contract with the largest Turkish airline and one of the leading airlines in the world would mean a lot for the development of the Banja Luka Airport and for its future.

“This job would mean a lot to us because of all the positive effects that are especially important in the period when we are expecting major investments,” said Janjić.
