Banja Luka Mayor: We are ready to appoint Chiefs immediately

It is obvious that the goal of SNSD and their coalition partners is still the blockade of Banja Luka, because otherwise they would not have conditioned the work of the City Assembly on the election of their mayors, that is, they would not have directly offered the coalition to me as mayor for the umpteenth time, said Draško Stanivuković, mayor of Banja Luka.

“We will not join a coalition with them”

“We will not join a coalition with them and what they are offering is unacceptable to us. We are ready to appoint mayors immediately and at an extraordinary session of the City Assembly, if this means unblocking Banja Luka, but not on their terms or with them in a coalition,” he wrote on social media, after representatives of SNSD and their coalition partners requested this morning urgent appointment of department heads in the Banja Luka City Administration.

Stanivuković pointed out that expertise is in the interest of Banja Luka and stated that this should be the only criterion when appointing department heads.

No political conditions

“I guess it is important that the chiefs are appointed, and our proposal is that people who have been doing their job for three years are also appointed to those positions. As early as tomorrow, I will suggest that all nine current chiefs continue to do their jobs. If the parties gathered around the SNSD in Banja Luka are sincere in what they say that their goal is the unblocking of the city, they have the opportunity to prove it by appointing heads of departments who already professionally perform these tasks,” stated Stanivuković.

He pointed out that he will not accept any political conditions, because the public competition for mayors has already been announced and is running at its own pace.
