Cvijanovic denies that BiH has joined the Countries that have imposed Sanctions against Russia

The Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, stated at a press conference in Banja Luka that there has been no decision by any authority in Bosnia and Herzegovina to impose sanctions against Russia.

Answering journalists’ questions, she thereby denied claims from the Party of Democratic Progress that Bosnia and Herzegovina joined the countries that imposed sanctions against Russia because of the war in Ukraine.

Namely, Branislav Borenović, the leader of the PDP party claims that BiH joined the sanctions and that he received an answer about this from the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, the Vice President of the European Commission, Joseph Borrell.

Željka Cvijanović commented, on the other hand, that Borenović is only “creating new topics”, and at the press conference with the President of the RS Milorad Dodik, she also spoke about the possible freezing of relations between the Presidency of BiH and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina “if the relationship is not changed which will not be tolerated anymore”.

She requested that everyone behave according to their constitutional responsibilities so that the relations of the political actors that make up the government at the level of BiH would not be disrupted, as well as the arrangements for the benefit of all citizens of BiH, and for which there is, unfortunately, no way to unblock them, as she said.

Cvijanović is particularly dissatisfied with the making of foreign policy decisions.

“I will say that there is no departure from the old and strange practices in foreign policy, given that we have different views, that the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding certain missions are different from what was agreed upon,” she said.

When it comes to foreign policy, Cvijanović also stated that whenever necessary, she will use the option of veto, which can be approved by the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska, Fena reports.
