“Banjalučanke” at the World Choir Olympics in Riga

BanjalučankeFemale Chamber Choir “Banjalučanke” will participate at the World Choir Olympics, in capital city of Latvia, Riga, from 9-19 July.

The Olympics will gather about 500 choirs from 80 countries and the female chamber choir “Banjalučanke” is the only choir from B&H, which thanks to the results of the previous year fulfilled the Olympic standards and directly qualified for participation in this prestigious competition.

The choir “Banjalučanke” won the silver medal at the previous Olympics, held in USA.

This time “Banjalučanke” choir will have a humanitarian mission in Latvia, to motivate international community to help the flooded areas.

With this goal, the composer and conductor of ensemble Mladen Matović composed and wrote the song “Angle in your heart” in English language and these days is recorded by choir members. The song and an appeal for help will be performed in the framework of the Olympic Program in Riga.
