After the victory against Romania in Bucharest with a score of 4:2, selector Sergej Barbarez had only positive comments on the play of his players.
“As I always say, the road is important, and the results accelerate and improve it. We see what playing in the World Cup means to us, we finally have courage when it comes to the game. Everyone on the field wants to have the ball. The plan was to have four or six points by Sweden, to attack Sweden with Edin for three points. Now there will be euphoria in the country for the next four or five days, but we deserve it. We will be concentrated and against Sweden we will go for victory.”
Ivan Bašić played a good game and assisted Tarik Muharemović on Dragon’s second goal.
“This is one of our best games both with and without the ball. When we look at the whole game, I think we dominated the whole 90 minutes. If we had been a little calmer in the end, we could have scored a few more goals. We are going to rest until Friday and to Sweden, and we are going to face a lot of Bilino polje. After the good games at the World Cup, we are full of confidence. We raised our level with the ball, but we can definitely improve. Now Sweden is next, it will be a great honor for us to be part of the game in to which Edin Dzeko is saying goodbye.”
The double assistant in this match was the young Esmir Bajraktarević.
“I’m happy we won today, but we have to stay focused on Sweden because it won’t be an easy match. There was no crowd – it was strange – but we adapted; we didn’t let that distract us and focused on the pitch to win the game. We all share the same plan and have so much passion for Bosnia and Herzegovina – we want to give our all for this country. Edin Džeko was my idol when I was a kid, and we’ll give our best against Sweden for him and for BiH.”
