High school students, a total of 50 of them from Teocak, Sapna, Ugljevik and Lopare, visited Sarajevo City Hall where the exhibition “Vedute of Venice”was opened in the organization of the Italian Embassy.
This was the first visit to Sarajevo for many of them. Judging by their impressions, they will remember it for a long time.
The curator of the Art Gallery of BiH, Aida Sarac, introduced the students with the works of Canaletto, Duardi, Marieschi and van Lint that came from Gallerie d’Italia – Pallazo Leoni Montanari, which is one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Vicenza.
To recall, paintings of the four masterminds from this field were presented at the exhibition “Vedute Venice”. It is an extraordinary collection of Venetian Baroque, within which are preserved masterpieces of Tiepolo, Pietro Longhi and other great artists of that period as well as beautiful collections of Old Greek vases and Russian icons, besides the paintings exhibited in Sarajevo.
These beautiful collections and the Baroque palace Leoni Montanari itself are part of the great cultural project of the Intesa Sanpaolo bank called “Progetto Cultura”, which, among others, includes Gellerie d’Italia – Piazza Scala in Milan, in which are presented Italian artists from the 19th and 20th century and Gallerie d’Italia – Palazzo Zevallos Stigliamo in Naples with exhibition of the last Caravaggio’s masterpiece “the Martyrdom of Saint Ursula”, and works of artists from the south of Italy from the period between 17th and 20th century.
