The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, stated during a meeting with representatives of the United Veterans’ Organization (JOB) “Union of Veterans” of BiH that the soldiers of the Army of the Republic of BiH and members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of BiH deserve respect, a dignified position in society, and fair and sustainable legal solutions, stressing that it is necessary to improve the rights of the veteran population.

Bećirović discussed the position of the veteran population, the improvement of the legal and institutional framework for the protection of their rights, as well as the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Rights of Demobilized Veterans and Members of Their Families, which foresees the introduction of a veteran’s allowance, with the representatives of the JOB “Union of Veterans” BiH.

As announced by the cabinet of the BiH Presidency member, JOB representatives informed Bećirović of the current course of discussions between veterans’ organizations and representatives of relevant institutions, stressing that the proposed legal solution is the result of long-term dialogue and reconciliation.

Bećirović pointed out during the meeting that the soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina stood in defense of the state in the most difficult moments of its history.

“Thanks to their courage and determination, Bosnia and Herzegovina was preserved. Fighters deserve respect, a dignified position in society, and fair and sustainable legal solutions,” said Bećirović.

During the conversation, it was also pointed out the need to improve the health and social protection of the veteran population, support for the employment of demobilized veterans and their family members, as well as a more efficient solution to the problem of homeless and seriously ill veterans.

The representatives of the JOB “Veterans Union” of BiH thanked Bećirović, as stated, for his continuous efforts to preserve the assets of the defense of BiH and improve the position of the veteran population.
