Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, addressed the public regarding, as he stated, attempts to destabilize the state after the first-instance verdict of the Court of BiH against the President of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.
Bećirović emphasized that the verdict against Dodik, like all previous court decisions, are not directed against any people in BiH.
“Some have been convicted, some have been acquitted, but it has never happened that one individual, out of his personal interests, wants to cause complete destabilization in our state because of a single court verdict. The first-instance verdict of the Court of BiH against Milorad Dodik, as well as the first-instance verdicts against other individuals, have nothing to do with Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks and others in our country, because the courts do not judge either nations or collectivities. This is about an individual who imagined that he was both a nation and an entity,” said Bećirović.
He said that in these complex circumstances it is very important to protect the constitutional order of the state of BiH by acting legally, because this is the only way to preserve peace and stability.
“Anyone who attacks the state of BiH must know that the state will respond strongly. All those who violate the laws will bear the consequences. I call on all people not to fall for tricks and provocations. We must act rationally, calmly, calmly and decisively. In the coming period, it is very important to prevent the spread of panic and incorrect information. BiH is facing great challenges and temptations,” added the member of the BiH Presidency.
He warned that BiH is facing an attempt to overthrow the constitutional order, and recalled the long-standing anti-Dayton activities of Dodik and the SNSD, including illegal referendums and decisions of the RS National Assembly that violated state laws and decisions of the BiH Constitutional Court.
Bećirović emphasized that responsible institutions are obliged to protect the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional order of BiH, including the Constitutional Court of BiH, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the Court of BiH, state security agencies and the Armed Forces of BiH. He also emphasized that the international community, including the OHR, EUFOR and NATO, has a responsibility to ensure compliance with the Dayton Agreement.
“The EUFOR mission must take all steps in accordance with its mandate. I call on them again to request reinforcements. I call on NATO once again to initiate an urgent reinforcement of its forces on the territory of BiH. I call on the Prosecutor’s Office and the Court of BiH to continue criminally prosecuting individuals responsible for unconstitutional actions. The Constitutional Court to continue protecting the constitutional order of BiH. In the end, the state of BiH will win, it is difficult, but it will win. We cannot, must not and will not give up on BiH,” Bećirović said.
Speaking about the situation in the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), Bećirović said that all institutions must work in accordance with the law and their authorities. He also referred to the failure to hold an extraordinary session of the Presidency of BiH, accusing Chairwoman Željka Cvijanović of violating the Rules of Procedure by not calling a session.
“I expect SIPA and others to do only what they are responsible for. When asked about the extraordinary session of the Presidency of BiH, Chairwoman Cvijanović is violating the Rules of Procedure and not calling a session. When it comes to Dodik and his proposals, he must know that everyone knows that independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity need to be protected. Strategic points are not as Dodik imagines them,” said Bećirović, N1 writes.
