Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic, met in New York with the President of the United Nations (UN) Security Council, United Kingdom (UK) Ambassador Barbara Woodward.

In a substantial conversation, Becirovic provided Woodward with detailed insights into the real situation in BiH, the challenges the country faces, and the obstructions on its path to Euro-Atlantic and European integration. He emphasized the importance of intensifying BiH’s cooperation, particularly with the countries that witnessed the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, to safeguard peace and constitutional order.

Becirovic highlighted that the authorities of the BiH entity Republika Srpska (RS) are dangerously undermining the foundations of the Dayton Peace Agreement and that the leadership of the Republic of Serbia is aggressively interfering in BiH’s internal affairs. As evidence, he pointed to the Declaration adopted by the so-called All-Serb Assembly in Belgrade on June 8th of this year.

Woodward emphasized that the UK, as a witness to the Dayton Peace Agreement, is determined to continue being a factor of peace and stability in BiH. She expressed strong support for BiH on its European path and in activities toward NATO membership. Woodward underscored that her country strongly supports BiH’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity and seeks to deepen the active partnership between the two nations. She also hinted at upcoming visits from senior UK officials to BiH.

Woodward noted the special importance of Becirovic’s close contacts with top UK officials.
