The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, held a meeting in London with the special envoy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) for the Western Balkans, Karen Pierce. They discussed the current political and security situation in BiH, the election of a new high representative, and the European and Euro-Atlantic path of BiH.

Bećirović pointed out that the UK is one of the most important partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He thanked for the continuous and principled support for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order of BiH, emphasizing the special importance of the UK as a witness to the Dayton Peace Agreement, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, a member of NATO and a member of the Steering Committee of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC).

He warned that the leadership of the BiH entity RS continues with coordinated activities aimed at weakening state institutions, challenging the mandate of the high representative, blocking European and NATO reforms and undermining the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He pointed out that such actions represent a threat to peace and security, and that the international community should respond in a unified, decisive and timely manner.

Bećirović stressed that the process of electing a new high representative should be completed in a way that will preserve the credibility of the international presence and the full ability of the OHR to continue implementing its mandate in full capacity.

Karen Pierce confirmed the UK’s strong commitment to the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She emphasized the importance of preserving the Dayton Peace Agreement, the functionality of state institutions and the continuation of reforms that bring Bosnia and Herzegovina closer to European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
