The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, spoke with the Minister of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom (UK), James Heappey, during a working visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Bećirović and Hipi discussed the security crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina, caused by the unconstitutional actions of the authorities of the RS, which threatens to cause instability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also in the entire region of the Western Balkans.
Bećirović emphasized that the attempt to destroy the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a direct attack on peace, and it comes after the announcement by the President of the RS Milorad Dodik that entity authorities will try to destroy the internationally recognized state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“It is time for concrete steps in sanctioning the destroyers of peace and security. The international community must now be determined and not allow destabilization to occur in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region,” Bećirović pointed out during the conversation.
UK Armed Forces Minister James Heappey said that the UK government will not ignore any disruption of peace, security and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The UK is seriously considering the re-participation of UK soldiers in the EUFOR mission ALTEA in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
By the way, the UK was the first to implement the decisions of the last NATO summit in Madrid, which defined that the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina should be incorporated into the security of the Alliance.
Bećirović thanked the United Kingdom for its continuous support to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as other security and defense institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He particularly emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen the defense capacities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the modernization of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as strengthening the defense against cyberattacks through the establishment of the Center for Cybersecurity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He also said that the United Kingdom will continue to support the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH in the field of military training, defense reform, firearms control, and the implementation of infrastructure projects.
Support was also expressed for the continuation of education and training of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina at British military academies and other defense institutions.
In addition to this meeting, Bećirović also spoke with other representatives of the UK Government in charge of national security and international affairs, Bećirović’s office announced.
