The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, stated today in Sarajevo that it is important to send a message to the domestic and international public that there is no longer any room in Bosnia and Herzegovina for any new dividing lines, ethnic divisions, or any ideas about divisions and a third entity.
“Such ideas are unacceptable to the vast majority of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we will never allow that,” said Bećirović, reacting to a panel on Bosnia and Herzegovina held last weekend in Zagreb, at which some participants characterized BiH as a dysfunctional state and spoke about the ethnic reorganization of the state.
He stated that we as a state have accepted the obligation to fully implement the standards of non-discrimination and equal voting rights, and that is why the task of progressive forces in BiH is to insist even more strongly on the implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in the coming period so that BiH can become a member of the European Union and NATO as soon as possible.
Bećirović added that we are obliged to implement all judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and that our goal is to abolish systemic discrimination, which is crucial in order to achieve that all citizens are equal before the law.
Following a meeting of the members of the Presidency of BiH with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, who is visiting our country, Bećirović stated that BiH remains committed to human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
