Bešić for the British Media: Bosnia and Herzegovina is in my Heart

muhamed-besic-govorio-za-britanske-medije-vazniji-mi-je-dres-bih-nego-messijev_1417949644Muhamed Bešić, the B&H national team’s player is an established name in the FC  Everton. Our mid-fielder plays better every day. He spoke about his carrier, plans and his unusual football path for the British Express.

When the former selector Safet Sušić red Bešić’s name and said that he is the only one who can stop Leo Messi, a lot of people did not believe it. Everton’s player considers the call for the WC in Brazil was an extremely important detail in his carrier.

“Going to Brazil was very important to me. If I had not left to the World Championship, I probably wouldn’t be here today. Maybe I would have played in Switzerland. Basel was interested in me before the WC. After Brazil, clubs from Italy, England, Germany and Spain contacted me but I wanted to go to Everton.” – said Bešić and went back to his beginnings:

“I started to train when I was 8 years old. I was playmaking at first but six years later I became stopper.

He is especially well known by its duels with Messi…

“It’s hard to win against me in a duel ‘one to one’. It was good against Messi but the fact he scored a goal is related to his quality. I did not exchange jerseys with him after the match because I care more about my Bosnian jersey. I keep every jersey of the national team I have because they have a special value to me.” – revealed Bešić.

Bešić was born and grew up in Germany but he decided to play for B&H.

“I had a choice: to play for Germany or B&H. My heart said to me that it’s the right decision. Bosnia and Herzegovina is in my heart. My parents didn’t influence my decision in any way. Most of the players in the team had the same situation. All of them are men with strong characters.” – said Bešić

Although he is satisfied with his achievements in the new club so far, he still believes he can do much better.

“The fans saw only 50 % of what I can do. The real values and possibilities will be seen next spring. I have the strength and the energy but I need a little more time to advance even more. The game is so fast here. Sometimes I have a feeling that I’m surrounded by ten players in one second, and they all want to take the ball away from me. I believe I could do better if I was a stopper. Also, the style of playing is somewhat different here. I’m still getting used to it. Lately I have been going to the gym more often because I need to strengthen my muscle mass more.” – said Bešić.
