Before the beginning of the 20th Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026, a solemn ceremony of raising the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held at the Flag Square in that Italian city. Our country is represented in Taranto by 76 athletes who will compete in 15 sports – 12 individual and three team.

In the next two weeks, until September 3 to be precise, over 4,500 athletes from 26 countries will compete in several sports. The official opening ceremony will be held at the Erasmo Iacovone stadium, in front of full stands.

Taranto has been in the Mediterranean Games for days. The city is decorated and lit up in the spirit of the games, and numerous cultural and other manifestations added to the festive atmosphere.

The special feature of these games is that the athletes are not housed in the classic Olympic village, but during the competition they stay in two cruise ships anchored in the Mar Grande military port.
