maricagB&H national team representative, and the basketball player for Slovenian team Athlete Celje, Marica Gajić, will be playing in the women’s NBA league.

Gajić was selected in the WNBA draft in the third round as the 32nd pick, and was chosen by the Washington Mystics. As she says, this is one of those moments that you remember your whole life.

“Now I know, dreams really do come true”, was the first comment of this 20-year-old basketball player from Bijeljina.

She was the MVP of the Women’s regional league and the first in the history who was directly selected in the draft from the International Women’s Regional Basketball League.

“Honestly, I’m still not aware of the success, my feelings are mixed up and I do not know what to think. I can only say that I am very excited and happy for this incredible opportunity, which is the dream of most of the basketball players and my biggest dream for sure,” said Gajić.

Gajić led our national team, up to twenty years old, in the championship last year and she is expected to do the same this year.

“After the end of the season we will decide how and what to do next in Celje. The plans to play in Europe still exist and my performance in the NBA league depends on it. Altogether, everything goes according to the plan, in the right direction, and now I do not worry about my future. As for me, I should just keep up the good work and continue in this style, “said this great basketball player.
