B&H Chosen as Member of Executive Board of UN Women

male-female-equalityAfter the implemented activities of the permanent mission of B&H to the UN and in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of B&H and other relevant institutions of our country, B&H in New York was chosen as a member of the executive board of the UN body for gender equality and strengthening the role of women (UN Women).

The selection of B&H to the executive board is one more step in the international affirmation of our country, and the mandate begins on 1 January 2014 and will last three years.

The executive board manages the operative activities of UN Women with the cooperation of the Economic and Social Council of the UN, and the activities are focused on coordination programs and projects that deal with gender equality, and are created and implemented through a UN system.

UN Women already has an office in Sarajevo that opened in 2008 and through the realization of various projects promotes gender equality and prevent violence against women, and is financed by UN Trust Fund and UN Women Fund, announced the Press Office of the B&H Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
