The B&H Deputy Minister of Security Mladen Ćavar met today in Sarajevo with the Deputy Director of the International Center for Development of Migration Policy (ICMPD) Gabriela Abado. They spoke of the importance of solving the problem of illegal migration, whose consequence is a large flux of immigrants in B&H and in other countries in the region.
The ICMPD Mission, currently comprised of 15 member states, seeks to promote comprehensive and sustainable policy of migration. B&H became a member of ICMPD in 2011, and next year will take over the role of Chair of the Board.
‘’Taking over the role of Chair is a clear sign that B&H is ready to manage the organization for a year. This will be a chance for B&H to establish close cooperation and to contribute to the work. Having in mind that ICMPD is made up of EU countries, countries at different stages of the accession process, as well as Switzerland, various perspectives and experiences are offered, and therefore a unique opportunity to manage migration’’, said the Deputy General Director of ICMPD Gabriela Abado.
Past cooperation between B&H and ICMPD was evaluated as very successful, referring to the projects that have been implemented or are currently being implemented in the area of migration policy.
