The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) is proud to announce two jury members for this year’s event. As Sarajevo Times previously wrote, award-winning filmmaker and media executive Pamela Hogan will serve as jury member together with Almin Karamehmedović is the Executive Producer of ABC World News Tonight. It is important to note that we are expecting the third member to be announced soon. The event will take place from May 21st until May 23rd at Tribeca Cinemas.
Almin Karamehmedović is the Executive Producer of ABC World News Tonight with David Muir.
Karamehmedović was born in Sarajevo and began his career at the national Bosnian-Herzegovinian broadcaster RTV BiH. He now lives and works in New York City.
He was named Executive Producer of ABC World News Tonight with David Muir in August 2014. In this position, Karamehmedović oversees the production and all daily operations of the program.
Prior to joining ABC World News Tonight with David Muir, Karamehmedović served as the Executive Producer of Nightline, also on ABC.
Karamehmedović has traveled the world over the years producing notable pieces for Nightline and ABC News. Some of his award-winning work includes living among the indigenous people of the Enawene Nawe tribe in the remote and uncivilized Amazon.
Karamehmedović has also covered the ongoing Mexican Drug Wars, and the child abuses in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Cambodia.
Since joining ABC News in 1998, Karamehmedović has been involved in many firsts: in 2001 he was one of the first journalists to gain access to Tora Bora, Afghanistan, where Osama bin Laden was believed to be holed up, and in 2003 he embedded with the U.S. Army during the invasion of Iraq and spent much of the next three years there.
In 2005, he was one of the first journalists to travel to Darfur/Sudan to report on the genocide unfolding there, and in 2006 he covered the war in Southern Lebanon.
He has won 11 Emmys, two Overseas Press Club Awards, four Murrow awards, two Genesis awards, as well as contributed to a number of ABC News’ Peabody and DuPont Awards.
Karamehmedović has traveled to more than 90 countries.
He is a graduate of the University of Greenwich in London.
Karamehmedović resides in New York City with his wife Amela and son Jake.
