In the Official Gazette of 23 December 2013 the first European law on the protection of whistleblowers was published, which introduced the relevant state institution for granting status and protection of whistleblowers in pretrial proceedings.
In this way, B&H succeeded to go beyond the British law (the most famous in Europe, adopted in 1998, which relies on judicial protection of whistleblowers, which was followed by several European countries) and to be the first European country that has adopted the American model law (the first law on protection of whistleblowers was declared by Lincoln in 1863 and after that 50 more laws are adopted in USA), which introduced prejudicial instances of protection.
At a time when Europe is thinking of progress in this field, from 1 January 2014, when the law enters into force, B&H will became the European leader and pioneer of positive changes in this field.
