How BH Humanitarians made Syrian Children happy

syria childrenBH humanitarian organization IFS-EMMAUS continued with its humanitarian activities. Six days ago from Klokotnica, headquarters of the organization, departed a humanitarian convoy with five truckloads of flour for Syria.

The convoy arrived at its destination, and upon their arrival in Syria, humanitarian workers from BiH made a small group of boys happy. The convoy was followed by several employees of the organization which will directly deliver aid and will be involved in humanitarian work in the field.

“Everything started with our ‘improper’ parking of vehicles in front of goal where Syrian children were playing football gathered on the street in front of the house where was taken care of several orphans and mothers with children of refugees from Syria, that we came to visit. I did not even turn the vehicle off, and a dozen of boys was in front of me to prevent me from parking. It reminded me of my childhood and our games when I would gladly throw the stone on the vehicle that would stop my favorite game. Of course, I moved the vehicle to a safe zone, and my colleagues have already jumped on the ground and challenged the children to a match. Children have already started to celebrate the victory, but not the one in the game, but the one in the heart, in their minds, in which there was no more room for concern, anxiety or fear of the enemy. If we had more time and a little weighted less, the match would probably last until the end of the conflict in Syria.

However, we had to step out and admit the defeat to the Syrian children, and the defeat of all mankind. While holding their hands, through my head passed all the images that I was watching late at night through the Internet, and condemned myself and others, while feeling helpless as never before in my life, praying for their own good, because I could not give them that. And as my lungs were squeezed by the poor form at the moment I began to feel some relief, as if I felt the smell of their forgiveness in my chest. And today, when my defeat meant victory, children’s happiness and forgetfulness of recently lived, I feel that our mission was successful.”

All actors of the match played between the team of children of Syrian refugees and the team of IFS – EMMAUS using all languages of sport, love, care and solidarity, helped each other to find inner satisfaction. In the end, the result was 4: 5 for Syrian children. Symbolically, our five truckloads of flour for five children’s goals. Let’s hope that there will be more goals…
