At a meeting of the North Atlantic Council of NATO with ministers of defense of participating countries in the ISAF Mission in Afghanistan, which is held in Brussels, a meeting was held of the ministers of defense of members of the US-Adriatic Charter (A-5). They exchanged experiences at a strategic level on previous regional cooperation as part of this initiative, and discussed prospects of further development of cooperation between members of A-5 through participation in operations and projects of NATO.
During this meeting, Minister of Defense of B&H Zekerijah Osmić specifically referred to the initiative of BRAAD (Balkan Regional Approach to Air Defense) and pointed out that the Ministry of Defense is ready to be an active participant, both in terms of information exchange and in technical preparations for the implementation of BRAAD initiative.
Speaking on NATO-led peace support operations, Minister Osmić informed the ministers of defense of member countries of A-5 that the B&H Presidency approved the continuation of engagement in Afghanistan after 2014 and joining the mission ‘resolute support’.
‘’I am, on behalf of B&H, on this decision through a letter informed the General Secretary, which we formally applied as an operative partner country in participating in the planning of the mission. With this in mind, we expect to receive this status soon’’, said Minister Osmić.
