B&H sending Police Officers in the UN Peacekeeping Mission

haitiThe Presidency of B&H made a decision on the participation of police officers from B&H in the UN peacekeeping mission in Haiti, and this decision should be also confirmed by the Parliament of B&H at its session on the 10th of December.

The participation of police officers from B&H in UN peacekeeping mission in Haiti is approved by this decision, and our members will participate in MINUSTAH in the composition of the 11 police officers within the framework of police peacekeeping forces of the UN.

Members of the UNPOL in MINUSTAH have a mandate of providing support to establishment of a secure and stable environment, promoting political processes, strengthening of state institutions, the establishment and maintenance of the rule of law, the security and public order, providing of the support to institutions that are responsible for the protection of human rights and the recovery and the reconstruction of the country, as stated in the decision.

Police officers from B&H who are sent to the peacekeeping mission in Haiti will stay there for a year, with the possibility of extension of the mandate.
