Members of Federal Administration of Civil Protection (FCUZ) are working on pumping out the water, and firefighters are performing run-off. So far, this team successfully completed all the planned activities.
Ten members of the FCUZ with high-pressure water pumps and other equipment and four firefighters from the Civil Protection of the Canton Sarajevo with two fire trucks, on Friday afternoon, the 12th of August 2016, arrived in Skopje to assist after devastation from the recent catastrophic floods.
Representative of BH embassy in Skopje visited them as soon as they arrived, and stated that they are at their disposal during their stay in Macedonia.
Together with the firefighting unit, the team was immediately deployed in the industrial zone of the municipality of Ilinden with all available equipment and personnel, where private houses and public business entities were flooded.
These activities of the Federal Civil Protection Administration and the Civil Protection of the Canton Sarajevo was preceded by a decision of the Council of Ministers of BiH, the Agreement between the Council of Minister of BiH and the Republic of Macedonia on cooperation in protection from natural and other disasters and after the Republic of Macedonia, through the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC), addressed the Ministry of Security of BiH with a request for international assistance after the recent catastrophic floods hit Skopje and its surroundings.
The Republic of Macedonia sent a team of firefighters with vehicles and equipment which, together with members of the FCUZ, provided assistance to the affected areas after the floods that hit BiH in 2014.
Cleaning will be continued this week, and these teams, which are the only representatives of BiH, are planned to return from Macedonia on the 21st of August 2016.
